Tips

  • Save regularly. There might still be some serious bugs and if you run into an error messages and your diagram gets messed up don’t save, instead reload it from the previously saved .kad file or you might lose everything.
  • Ctrl+Z is your friend. You can undo almost everything just by pressing Ctrl+Z.
  • Try to press F5 to redraw the diagram from the model file if you think there is something wrong and the diagram is not in sync.
  • If the Configure dialog or even the tray icon don’t show up anymore try renaming or deleting the kableconfig.xml file. The software will then create a new one and you have to load your .kar files again. If you know what you do you can also edit the file and set the activated property of problematic files to false.

Known Bugs & Things you better don’t do

  • The Update service doesn’t close the application. You must do it manually by choosing Exit from the Kable tray icon menu.
  • Don’t Copy (Ctrl+C) and Paste (Ctrl+V) a component. It could break your diagram and crash the application. Copy and Pasting a component just creates a visual copy of the original component. If you edit it you will also edit the source component and if the diagram is refreshed the new component will disappear.
  • You can save the files with other extensions then .kad and .kar but in that case the runtime won’t be able to load them so you should stick to the defaults.
  • If you select a compartment (the rectangular part of a Transformer or Gate that contains the expressions and conditions) you can delete it. Press Ctrl+Z to undo this or you won’t be able to use the component anymore.
  • Some of the toolbar icons don’t work (for instance you can’t change the background color of a component).
  • If you close a panel (Properties, Outline) there is no way to restore them. In that case your better off deleting the workspace folder in your Kable root folder. This will restore all workspace settings to the defaults and also restore the closed panels. There’s now a Show View dialog i the Window menu.
  • Reloading of configurations doesn’t work in 0.2.0. It will be fixed in 0.2.1. After changing the configuration you have to restart Kable. Version 0.2.1 is available through the update service.
